2022 Advocacy Highlights
In late October, NSA Board members had our annual meeting with White Plains government officials including Mayor Roach, Legal Counsel, Commissioners of Traffic, DPW, Planning and Building. We discussed a variety of issues affecting the North Street / Havilands neighborhoods and Greater White Plains. Some issues were traffic, safety, road maintenance, current and future development of the downtown and Westchester Ave corridors.
1133 Westchester Ave Solar Carport Project - With our input, we were successful in reducing the project size, enlarging setbacks and improving screening landscaping.
Little Lane and North St were milled and repaved to eliminate hazardous flooding in the crosswalks.
We continue to have dialogue with our officials about traffic, cut throughs and speeding. Sammis Lane and Maplemore were targeted by White Plains Police Department to be monitored for speeding.
Due to our advocacy, Dog Waste signs were mounted by the Highway Department along North St from WP High School to Ridgeway.
One of our members reached out to us about dirt bike activity at Ridgeway and Westchester Ave in the Havilands. We informed the Mayor and White Plains Police Department, and the illegal activity was curtailed.
Our input was valuable to the Common Council's approval of the New Zoning Ordinance for Solar Energy Regulations for White Plains. We will be monitoring potential projects and will keep you informed.
We successfully advocated for NSA streets inclusion in 2021-2022 re-paving programs. MicroSurface paving was completed at Wyndham Close, Eastdale, Southdale, Middale, Northdale and The Greens and Fairways.
Ladder 34 is back 24/7 at Ridgeway Firehouse. We continue to monitor the status of overall WPFD service levels to ensure funding is secured to add additional firefighters, get Rescue 88 back in full service and support proper service levels city-wide.
Our Board members attended planning meetings and made suggestions for the Comprehensive Plan Update that reflects our vision for the south end & city.
We are monitoring Farrell Estates, a proposal for the former Ridgeway Country Club/FASNY property and the potential impact on our neighborhoods. The Subdivision and Site Plan can be viewed by clicking this link: Farrell Subdivision & Site Plan
Past Accomplishments

Continued advocacy on the return of Ladder 34 at the Ridgeway Firehouse to full 24/7 operation to ensure fire safety in our community.
Worked with DPW to get Robinhood Lane repaved Sept 2021 and address Little Lane & North Street corner flooding.
Alerted city officials to have intrusion of poison ivy and other overgrowth on Bryant Ave sidewalks remediated.
Coordinated the planting of new trees on the North Street median in partnership with and support of the White Plains Beautification Foundation.
Opened dialogue with White Plains traffic officials regarding speeding and other transportation issues within our neighborhood.
Advocated for the successful curb to curb repaving of lower Havilands Lane due to Con Edison patchwork left behind in 2019.
