North Street ASSOCIATION

Advocating to preserve the character and safety of our neighborhood

WHO ARE WE?

We are a community association of more than 500 households residing around North Street in the City of White Plains, New York. Most of our membership lives in the residential area outlined by Bryant Avenue to the north, the Hutchinson River Parkway to the south, I-287 to the east, and Mamaroneck Avenue to the west. Our membership also includes the residents of Club Pointe, The Greens, The Fairways, and Wyndham Close. We are home to White Plains High School, German International School, YWCA, Ridgeway Fire House Station #7 and Ladder 34, North Street Tavern, Maplemoor Public Golf Course and 13 religious institutions.

CHARACTERISTICS

North Street is a primarily residential corridor featuring fieldstone walls, mature trees and plantings, and a wide variety of homes, churches, White Plains High School, and more. The Comprehensive Plan of White Plains specifically envisions North Street not being widened from Westchester Avenue south to the City line.

We wish to preserve the residential nature of our community. We acknowledge that North Street is a vital road artery for the City of White Plains. In spite of this, the nature of the road has hardly changed with the residential developments that have occurred on and around North Street since the early 1990's.
